Charleston Rec adds fencing club The City of Charleston Department of Recreation has formed the City of Charleston Recreation Fencing Club. This instructional club will meet on Daniel Island and teach children of all levels the rules, moves and art of fencing. Registration is scheduled to close today. The cost is $120 for the fall season, which will meet on Saturdays at 9 a.m. for ages 9-12. Fencers who are 13 and older will meet at 10 a.m. For a nominal charge, open adult fencing will be available from 11 a.m. to noon for ages 13 and older. Call 216-6366 for more information. Fall billiards leagues forming The American Poolplayers Association of South Carolina is taking registration for its upcoming fall season. Registration is $20 annual membership which allows players to play on as many teams as they wish. In addition, weekly league fees also will be applied depending on the format of play. Leagues are being formed across the Lowcountry, and interested participants can use the host locator tab on the Web site www.apaofsouthcarolina.com to find the most convenient place to play. MP Invitational will be Sept. 19-21 The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department will host the Mount Pleasant Fall Invitational USSSA Tournament on Sept. 19-21. This USSSA baseball tournament will be held for age groups 10U-18U. Games will take place Friday evening, all day Saturday and all day Sunday at the R.L. Jones Center, Park West Recreation Complex and Wando South fields. Participating teams must register by Sept. 12. All participating teams are guaranteed to play four games throughout the weekend. Game times will vary. Registration is open online at www.diamondwarriors.org. Tournament entry fees are also available at the Diamond Warriors Web site.
